Indori Food

You might think you know Indian cuisine, So keep reading to find out about our favorite foods in India, and look out for them the next time you head to your local Indian restaurant. Give them a go, you won’t regret it! And if you’re heading to India soon, this will be a good starting point for your Indian binge eating bucket list. The food was definitely the thing I was most excited about when we decided to visit India From the curries, to the tea, to the many types of breads, the delicious sweets, and the street snacks, I loved everything we ate while in India.

Samosa

Regardless of how familiar you are with Indian food; you’ve probably eaten a samosa or two in your life. But if you haven’t had a proper samosa before, you’re missing out! I ate a few too many of these whiles in India, but they’re really freaking good, they’re ridiculously cheap, and you can literally buy them everywhere. Even on the trains, people are constantly walking through with big baskets of them, or passing them through the windows to hungry passengers.

Chai

While not technically a food, Chai was by far our favorite thing in India. Its a sweet milky tea made with black tea leaves and a range of spices that usually include ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. And like the samosas it was incredibly delicious and super cheap, so we drunk a lot of it. And by a lot I don’t just mean one or two cups a day, there was one particular day where we drunk at least eight cups each! In our defense we were stuck at a train station all day, and I think Phil was drinking tea to make up for the fact that he couldn’t have a beer.

Sweets

If you have a sweet tooth, you will love India!
I had no idea that Indian sweets were even a thing until we were in Malaysia. While visiting the Batu Caves, we passed several stalls selling all sorts of interesting Indian sweets. We tried as many as we could without making ourselves physically sick, and after that I couldn’t wait to get to India and try more sweets!

Thali

I am a very indecisive person and I like to try a bit of everything, so I absolutely loved the Thali!
Its basically a platter of Indian goodness. You are given a round silver tray with small bowls filled with different types of curry, rice, salad or vegetables, yoghurt, pickle, sometimes soup, and dessert. The amount of dishes depends on the price you pay, but we had some really good vegetarian Thali for 100-120 rupees . All that selection for only a few dollars, that’s my idea of a perfect meal!
